Sustainable engineering solutions for an emerging global economy.
Sedy Engineering CO is commited to finding solutions to engineering problems in struggling communities. We believe that being part of a global community means that our solutions shouldn't come at a cost to our neighbors' way of life.
Competition
Competition Objectives
Tasks to be accomplished include:
-
Navigate through the gates in the fastest time.
-
Teams will be scored on the maximum cargo carried.
-
Bonus: Release a simulated 1-gm water bladder. (Note: Use a bag of sand.)
-
Bonus: Does the canister hit the intended fire? Target is 1-m in diameter.
-
Hitting or touching the gates will incur a penalty.
-
Provide photographic visual evidence of the construction of your vehicle.
-
Signed Ethical Statement that you constructed the vehicle.
-
One page Design Calculations.
Competition Scoring
Run Score = Max(300 s – Trial Time, 0)
+ (Number of gates successfully negotiated)x200
+ (Number of grams carried) x50
+(release of bladder)x20
+(bladder hits target)x100
+(Lighter than air)x100
-(number of gates hit)x20
-(unacceptable design calculations)x100
Competition Performance
-UAV was prepped and then placed in quarantine 3 hours before competition
-UAV lost helium in quarantine
-Team did not get full 5 minutes before run to prep UAV
-UAV had difficulty leaving ground until cargo was ejected early
-UAV was unable to maneuver properly and became stuck on gate
-Final score was 130 points
Schedule
The construction was successfully completed according to schedule with time to spare.

Budget
The project went over budget because support material was not included in estimate and wrong motor controllers were purchased.
